The New Year
Well the year of the Rat is upon us! Well, not technically until February but 2008 is the year of the Rat according to the Chinese Lunar calendar.
What does that mean to me? or to my poker playing? Not a damn thing unless you believe in astrology and horoscopes and Jupiter lining up with Pluto in the fifth moon house of SomeStrangeRomanGod.
So here is what my 2008 horoscope says:
Virgo horoscope 2008 promises a year full of positive and exiting things for Virgo people. Dynamic success can be witnessed by the people born under this sign in the year ahead. The month of January would bring a rise in financial gains, which can be maintained for the entire year with little efforts. The only need remains to be wary of overspending. Social interaction and meeting of new acquaintances would rise till the month of November.
The month of September would see a considerable improvement in the marital affairs as per the horoscope 2008. New friendship as well as relationships can also be made during the July and September. It is advisable to avoid any kind of speculations during this year.
In reading that I can certainly make it work for my poker life, something like this:
"January would bring a rise in financial gains" -- Winning big at poker
"The only need remains to be wary of overspending"-- dont play big money tourneys
"Social interaction and meeting of new acquaintances would rise till the month of November" -- Go to WSOP and WPT events
"September would see a considerable improvement in the marital affairs " -- we've talked about booking a cruise around this time
"New friendship as well as relationships can also be made during the July and September" -- meeting folks at the WSOP and WPT
This last statement "It is advisable to avoid any kind of speculations during this year." sort of scares me. I mean how am I supposed to win big, meet new people and all the crap that my horoscope says I will do if I don't speculate at some point. Oh crud I think that was speculation - dammit I've ruined my year already. I think I'll just start eating lots of Chinese food and reading the fortune cookies. They are never wrong, right?
